The Vaquero Team

The History of Our Name

Although today our expertise is in windows and doors (Vaquero Windows & Doors), our company roots are in residential land development (Vaquero Development & Construction). We are seldom involved in development anymore, but we do have a pretty cool story to tell about those days. Back in 2015, something very unique happened. As part of a Flower Mound, Texas land development project, we discovered what turned out to be an 1860 log house encased in the walls of a modern house that we were slatted to tear down. The cabin was built by one of the original settlers of Denton County and is now one of the oldest structures in all of North Texas residing on its original site. Amazingly, the logs used to build this house were cut from trees that started growing in the 1700s, before America was even a country.

After stabilizing the house and redesigning the development, we donated the historic Gibson-Grant Log House, and the parcel of land that it sits on, to the Town of Flower Mound. Today, with the assistance of town, county, and state agencies and officials, as well as historical preservation and restoration experts, the house is fully restored. The Gibson-Grant Log House is now open to the public and serves as a historic park and educational resource for Lewisville Independent School District students and the citizens of Denton County. Even though it was for only a brief period of time in its long history, we are humbled and honored to have been a steward of this historic property and to have played a role in preserving it for future generations.

Our philosophy is simple. Although blessed to sell and install industry-leading windows and doors, at the end of the day it’s people that matter.
